[Signal Boosting!] Fujojocast No. 14: When Asian Fans Socially Distance because of Cultural Tensions in Fandom — Otaku Champloo

I thought I’d signal boost this important podcast discussion hosted by Kristine Santos of the Ateneo de Manila University concerning the ongoing discussions of race in fandom from the perspective of fans in the Philippines. The podcast provides an interesting reflection on what it means to consume (Asian) pop culture and BL from a site often positioned as “peripheral” to the West but that is, in fact, central to their (and others’) lives.
