From 3-5th July, I will be attending the 22nd Biennial Conference of the Asian Studies Association of Australia (ASAA) at the University of Sydney. The theme of the conference is “Area Studies and Beyond.”
I will be doing two things. Perhaps most excitingly (and most horrifyingly), I will be one of four invited guests to open the conference at the Plenary keynote. At 9:30am on Tuesday 3rd, a group of Early Career Researchers shall explore the question “Why it’s a great time to be an Asianist?”. Do come along!

I have also organised a double-panel on the Transnational Circulation of Japanese (queer) popular culture with my fantastic colleague Kristine Santos of Ateneo de Manila University. The two panels will be held on the afternoon of Thursday 5th. Do come along, especially since it will be the FINAL time I will speak about Thai BL fandom in the Philippines.
